Bentong, Pahang is a good choice for a day away from the city.
It is about 70km from Petaling Jaya to Bentong town, approximately a 1 hour drive.Tip: Do start the day early for a nice weather.
* My one day trip is with my 2 year old toddler, hence it is child friendly suitable for family with young kids.
Our first stop was Wantan mee for our brunch. Initially we wanted to try Hooi Kee Wantan Mee at Yuen Kee Kopitiam but it was not open on the Wednesday that we went.

We pass by Choy Kee Restaurant which was crowded and has many people (it was a public holiday) and we decided to try the Wantan mee which requires a 1 hour wait.
We ordered a plate of chicken rice to eat while waiting and the "cham" ice which was really good, kopitiam type which is reasonable as well, about RM2 a glass.
The noodles is indeed something different texture then the usual Wantan Mee noodles and a bit springy texture. It's not bad.

Next stop we went to the morning market stalls (Pasar Besar Bentong) where most of the stalls were already closing by the time we were done with our noodles. So do plan your travels earlier (try to reach by 9am). It's also durian season (June/July) so we can literally smell durian while passing through the Bentong town.
There's this half shop selling egg tarts, kaya puffs and buns, (a row of shops) facing the morning open air market. The egg tart is really good as recommended by the aunty selling it.The kaya puff was just average.
After that we decided to try the Yong tau foo road side stall which had a queue.
It's quite good especially the fried foo chuk, an authentic taste.

All this places within walking distance - the Wantan mee, morning market and yong taufu.
After that we went to a waterfall nearby called Chamang Waterfall it cost RM2 per person for entrance. It's quite well maintained, don't see any rubbish around and its clean. You can experience nice cold, clear waters especially in the current heat. It is about 10km from Bentong town.

Bentong's weather seems rather cool as compared to KL.
After we went for the famous home made ice cream at Kow Pow. Very nice authentic taste, we had coconut, pandan and peanut flavour.

There's an app now as well - Go Bentong. I saw this only at the end of the trip.
