A hidden treasure in Matina Mill (馬提那麥兒手作烘焙)

While preparing for my Taiwan trip with my family, I read many blogs on various itinerary and the post from http://bumblebeemum.net/ on Matina Mill caught my eye.

I prefer less famous places hence I had to put this on the list. Many people will go to Old England Manor for tea time an even when we enquire with the place we stayed about Matina Mill, they also suggested us to go to Old England Manor as it is more famous.

The  road less traveled

Well, sometimes you just want to go to the road less traveled. Indeed it is a hidden place, a narrow road and a short drive, we reached this hidden home cum bakery place for our high tea. We were the only people there which made us feel relaxed and able to enjoy the place to our own and also chatting with the owner. This short break for us was a good one as we spend the first half of the day earlier at Cingjing farm. 

Dreams do come true 

This place was only built few years back and the materials used are mainly imported and very French inspired.

This is indeed this family's dream to have this place.

The beautiful view surrounding where we can see hills and mountains and also many homegrown herbs in this place and flowers. The flowers and plants are taken care of by the husband of the house while the wife and daughter takes care of the bakery/cafe along with other staff all staying in the house.

Our tea time set - we ordered 3 sets

We had homemade bagel, french bread with cream cheese and waffle sets served with guava. We also tried a piece of the fruit wine cake which had a nice wine taste to it.

The tea time set comes with refillable tea in glass pots. I personally liked their buckwheat tea.

 Most of the bread there are  preorder from customers hence you can't just walk in and purchase. Even the plain white bread was so soft and nice, we could finish the entire loaf after our tea time sets. Back to basics with bread and butter.

 Well, I've never tried Old England Manor tea time set, the tea time prices here are NT180-250 (see below) for a simple tea time set with tea as compared to the 3 tier tea time set in Old England Manor which is double the price. Probably if you are looking for something more classy and a more filling tea time and grand ambiance, Old England might be a good choice.
For me, I would always love to come back here again.

Throughout Cingjing area, you can get your minsu (b&b) to call a van driver to pick you at a rate of about NT50 per person.

Do take note you need to prebook your order before coming as they only prepare upon order. You can message them on their facebook page Matina Mill Facebook page or message them on line userid: Matinamill. I believe they only converse in mandarin as I tried to type in English and got the reply in mandarin instead.
